Man in hospital with serious injuries after being assaulted at a petrol station in Church Lawton

A man was left seriously injured after being assaulted at a petrol station in Church Lawton.

The victim, said to be in his 50s, is still in hospital according to Cheshire Police after Friday afternoon's incident.

The incident happened at Lawton Service Station, on Knutsford Road, Church Lawton.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and a 57-year-old woman was has held on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The pair arrested - who are both from Newcastle-under-Lyme have since been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries.

Now Cheshire Police have launched an urgent appeal for witnesses to the altercation, which happened at the garage near Alsager shortly after 4pm on Friday (November 6).

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "Police were informed of an altercation at a service station.

"Officers attended and discovered that a man had sustained serious injuries.

"He was taken to hospital in an ambulance, where he remains receiving treatment.

"Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

"After being interviewed in custody, they have both been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries.

"A range of inquiries relating to the incident are ongoing."
