The creator of iconic TV series like Brookside and Hollyoaks, Sir Phil Redmond and his wife, the Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, Lady Redmond MBE, will be in Alsager this weekend.

The Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire and her husband, Sir Phil Redmond, are opening a room containing two flight simulators at 2493 (Alsager) Squadron Air Training Corp.

And they will also be looking around the premises off Moorhouse Avenue which is staging an open day to celebrate the big event on Saturday (October 29th).

Lady Redmond MBE (centre left) was in Alsager last month (September) to present the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service to Alsager Community Support.

A spokesperson said: "The two flight simulators will enable the cadets to learn and get flying controls experience before flying in an actual aircraft.

"The Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, Lady Redmond and her husband, Sir Phil Redmond, have kindly agreed to open the room.

"We will be open for potential new cadets to look around from 9.30 am until 4 pm.  Year 8 and above can join now while year 7 can get their names down for next year.

"It is a fantastic opportunity for any young person to come and explore their potential."

The Lord Lieutenant and her husband, Sir Phil Redmond, will be opening the new room between 12.30pm and 1pm.

Alsager Nub News told last month https://alsager.nub.news/news/local-news/meet-the-talented-alsager-air-cadet-who-is-flying-high-for-the-county-149560 how an air cadet from the squadron, Lucy Chadwick is HM Lord Lieutenant Cadet for Cheshire 2022 – 2023.
