A local charity, Alsager Community Support (ACS), is making an appeal for volunteers to support its growing list of community provisions.

The Charity is seeking individuals who can offer their time as drivers and befrienders, two roles that are crucial to the well-being of many local residents.

Alsager Community Support is a well-established charity that sits in the heart of Alsager, providing professional drop in and telephone support, providing valuable advice and information free of charge. ACS's goal is to empower individuals, enabling them to lead more independent, healthier and fulfilling lives.

The need for volunteer drivers

"The demand for volunteer drivers is an all-time high. These generous individuals play a vital role in the community by providing transportation for those who are unable to drive themselves," says Alsager Community Support.

"Volunteer drivers help local residents get to medical appointment, attend local events and participate in social activities that they might otherwise miss."

Volunteer coordinator, Chris Ward, explained: "Many of our residents rely on our charity to maintain their health and stay connected with the community.

"Without volunteer drivers, some of our most vulnerable residents would face isolation and have difficulty accessing essential services and vital medical appointments."

The importance of befrienders

In addition to drivers, Alsager Community Support is also in need of volunteer befrienders. These volunteers provide companionship and support to local residents who may feel lonely or isolated.

Befrienders visit individuals in their homes, share conversation over a cup of tea, engage in activities together such as knitting, jigsaws, and completing puzzles or just chatting about what's recently been on television.

"Our befrienders make a world of difference," explains Volunteer Coordinator, Chris Ward.

"They offer not just company, but a vital social connection that enhances the quality of life for so many people. Its about building relationships and creating a sense of community."

How to get involved

Volunteering with Alsager Community Support is a fulfilling way to support the local community of Alsager and surrounding areas. The charity offers flexible opportunities to

suit various schedules, and they provide all necessary training and support for their volunteers.

"We invite everyone who is interested to reach out and learn more about how they can help," explained Volunteer Coordinator Chris Ward.

For those interested in becoming a volunteer driver or befriender, please contact Chris Ward on [email protected] for more information.

"By coming together to support our neighbours, we can build a connected and caring community. Join Alsager community Support and make a massive difference in the lives of local residents in Alsager and surrounding areas," say Alsager Community Support.
