ACS provides a free, local and confidential service for people in any kind of need across Alsager and the surrounding areas. Everything we do relies on the care, time and generosity of our volunteers.
There are many ways to get involved, depending on what feels right for you:
Centre Volunteers – Join us in our advice centre, where we offer information and guidance on a wide range of issues. You'll be part of a supportive team helping people find the help they need.
Befrienders – Spend time with someone who may be feeling lonely or isolated. A friendly chat, a shared cup of tea, a regular visit — that connection can mean more than you'd imagine.
Volunteer Drivers – Help people get where they need to go. Some volunteers drive once or twice a week to take people to the local civic lunch club. Others help to take people to essential medical appointments when there's no other way to get there.
Whatever your skills, availability, or experience, there's likely a place for you here. We'll provide guidance and support.

Process/manufacturing engineer
Process / Manufacturing Engineer Location: Radway Green (this role is primarily on-site, with core working hours of 10am-4pm and flexibility during the rest of the week. Fridays offer an early finish)
Salary: £ 43,649 What you'll be doing: • Develop new manufacturing processes, in line with Engineering Plans and Budgets. Technical solutions and processes must be robust, timely, cost-effective and meet Customer expectations
• Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with industry standard controls that ensure long term process stability, including Lean Principles, Process Control Plans, PFMEAs; plus, awareness of Programmable Logic Controls and Visual Management Systems on automated process lines
• Specify and qualify new equipment, often working with suppliers to meet tight deadlines. Ensure all process equipment meets regulatory and safety standards
• To coordinate development activities to establish supporting data that ensures the manufacturing processes are based on a sound understanding of the materials which are being processed and the technology adopted for the plant and equipment • To coordinate and manage a project data file capturing process and design information; to include, trials data, process definition (including drawings and specifications), certification and safety data. This data is to be controlled through the company's Product Lifecycle Management system • Support project activities, to include process reviews, capability studies, and Safe System of Work • Present to line management and other stakeholders (verbal and written) on topics relating to process status within development or production, e.g. KPIs
Your skills and experiences: Essential: • Minimum HNC / HND Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, time served in an engineering discipline or equivalent • Have a good technical and manufacturing base, show initiative and be able to work under pressure • Prioritising a constantly varying workload, in parallel with maintaining high quality standards and meeting deadlines • Capability to produce written/visual instructions i.e. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Risk Assessments (RA) Desirable: • Demonstrable experience in process or manufacturing engineering • Good technical understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes • IOSH Managing Safety / NEBOSH Certificate • Exposure to a medium/high volume manufacturing environment

The team: This role is responsible for the development of manufacturing processes from concept through to commissioning and qualification. You must be able to demonstrate a proven capability in developing manufacturing processes including system integration. Specific duties will include the identification and management of process technical requirements, provision of expertise into the risk management process, provision of engineering support to the tendering process, implementation of Safe System of Work in line with Company and Statutory requirements and the technical management of the commissioning and qualification process. A good knowledge of statistical techniques for measuring process capability and maintaining process control would be an advantage, including an understanding of six-sigma and the ability to develop, establish and maintain capable production processes.
