An installation date for a zebra crossing on a busy Alsager road remains unknown as Cheshire East assess the overall costs for the scheme.
Cheshire East Council plans to install a zebra crossing on Crewe Road, near the junction with Cranberry Lane, using both section 106 money from the housing developments at Goss Place and from the Sustainable Modes of Transport to School fund.
The council had originally intended to install the crossing during the February half-term period, but this was dependent on the public's feedback to the siting of the crossing and the required waiting order.
Nub News reported last month that the council had received some comments from residents, but they were reportedly in a position to proceed with the installation once final costs had been approved and a new date was agreed for the work to be carried out.
However, Cheshire East has now confirmed that an installation date for the crossing is no nearer to being finalised and the national lockdowns have "delayed progress".
A Cheshire East Council spokesperson told Nub News: "Cheshire East highways are currently assessing overall costs for this scheme and a final budget will need to be formally approved before a new date is fixed for the installation of this crossing.
"Unfortunately, the impacts of Covid during the winter and early spring have delayed progress on this particular project."
