Meet the new face at Alsager Round Table - national radio presenter, Darren (Daz) Antrobus who's the new vice chairman.

Darren has taken over as the organisation's number two, who works at Silk Radio and Dee Radio, helping the chairman grow the community-minded group from strength to strength in Alsager.

But the starlight is nothing new for the 44 year-old, who works at Silk 106.9 and is hoping to one day become chairman and will be throwing his hat into the ring at Alsager Round Table's annual general meeting next month (March).

For the time being though, Daz, who has worked at radio stations all over the country including BRMB in the Midlands and Signal radio, is busy helping the chairman in his role.

Alsager Nub News caught up with Darren over a cuppa in one of his favourite Alsager haunts - Bod Alsager.

"I'm honoured to have been voted in. My role is to support the chairman and stand in for him whenever necessary and to support other members with their fundraising."

Alsager Round Table is a well-known organisation in the town and supports and helps out at many of the town's events including the annual firework display, the Santa Sleigh ride and Alsager Lights Switch-on.

And it's a role which Daz finds easy to carry out, for he has close ties with the town. The Tunstall-born presenter spent much of his childhood in Alsager.

"My father was a security man and boiler man at Radway Green. We used to socialise with friends in Alsager so I know it very well," said Daz who moved to Alsager in 2023.

"It's a fantastic place to live and has fabulous community spirit. I'm extremely happy to be doing my work with Alsager Round Table and look forward to continuing to help."

Alsager Round Table is looking for new members and anyone who is interested in joining can email Daz at [email protected]
