A Church Lawton pub has reopened its doors with a new face behind the bar and a new offering.

The Lawton Arms in Liverpool Road West has been closed for a while but the pub reopened this week - after undergoing a major refurishment a while back.

The pub is owned by Stockport-based Robinsons Brewery and underwent a major refurbishment in October 2021.

And it's a real family affair for the new operator, Richia O'Neill, whose son, daughter and goddaughter will all be helping the former hairdresser run the pub.

Bubbly mum-of-two, Richia managed a hair salon at 42 Chestergate in Macclesfield before deciding she wanted a career change.

She said: "I'd always wanted to run a pub and this opportunity came up. It's a great community pub and everyone has been so friendly and welcoming.

"They're delighted the pub's reopened. It's a fabulous environment. I just want everyone to enjoy the pub and have a good time.

"It's very much a community pub. The support we've had so far has been amazing."

The pub reopened on Wednesday (June 25th) and has already announced plans for a new play area as well as a big party welcome the local community and customers.

"It's a fanastic location and we've already put Sky Sports in so people can come and watch matches and games. We'll also be having a quiz night.

"We've spent a while cleaning out everything and getting the pub ready to reopen and we're delighted with how it now looks."

The pub is open Monday and Tuesday 2 pm until 11pm, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 12 noon until 11 pm and Sunday 12 noon until 10 pm.

At the moment the Lawton Arms isn't serving food but is currently recruiting a chef.

"From what we hear, the previous chef was brilliant so if they would like to get in touch we'd be delighted to hear from them," said Richia.
