This year's Alsager Beer and Gin Festival attracted record crowds and raised a bumper £6,000 for local charities.

Every year, Alsager Cricket Club in Fairview Avenue holds a three day fundraising festival and this year it took place over the weekend - starting on Friday night (June 27th).

Scorching temperatures and a packed programme of events from live cricket matches to live music meant this year's festival - the eighth one - was well-attended.

The fun got underway at 6 pm with a league cricket match from ACC Ladies v Crewe Vagrants Cricket Club #CVCC  while lon Saturday (June 28th) Alsager 1st XI played Porthill Park Cricket Club sponsored by Lawton Dental Care.

On Sunday (June 29th), Alsager v Elworth Cricket Club were in the Talbot Cup.

Alan Stancliffe, chairman of Alsager Cricket Club said: "It was an amazing weekend with huge crowds and tremendous support from our army of volunteers who enable us to run the bars on the three days.

"The public support was again amazing and all enjoyed the singing and music of Hayley , Danny Brab and DJ Mav X.

"Thanks also to our 22 sponsors whose generosity is fantastic - also thanks to Alsager scouts who run the barbeque, Wildfire Pizza and a group of pupils from Alsager School who ran stalls to help them fund their charity trip to Tanzania.

"The first team also won both games in front of crowds of nearly 2,000 people.

"In conclusion the eighth festival was the biggest and most successful in the history of the event, thanks to the people of Alsager and beyond."

In total, the festivals have raised more than £25,000 for local Alsager charities and associations. Well done to the organisers and everyone who attended!
