Firefighters had to place sandbags in affected areas to prevent further flooding at an Alsager property.

At 12:30pm today (Monday) firefighters attended a flooded house in Linley Lane, Alsager.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews used a pump to reduce flooding on one side of the property, and placed sandbags in affected areas to prevent further flooding."

One fire engine from Alsager attended the property in Linley Lane.

Cheshire East Highways have closed Linley Lane between Linley Road and the new roundabout due to flooding under railway bridge.

Motorists have been urged to use alternative routes.
