Firefighter charged with causing death by dangerous driving due at Chester Crown Court

A man charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman died following a crash in Alsager is due in Chester Crown Court this week.

The driver of the fire engine, 57-year-old Kevin Simpkins, of Congleton, is due to appear at Chester Crown Court on Friday (20 February) for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

Police were called to the scene at the junction with Crewe Road and Close Lane at 7.22am on Friday 28 March 2025 where there had been a crash between a Lexus and a fire engine.

The driver of the car, a 59-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries. She was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
