An Alsager social club named after the factory it is linked to is celebrating its 80th birthday this year and undergoing a major revamp.
The Thirteen Club in Cedar Avenue has unveiled the first part of its anniversary renovation and now plans are in the pipeline for the next stage.
The lounge area has been repainted, new seating and flooring put in plus new lighting and pictures installed.
The club started in 1944 and gets its name from the armament factory at Radway Green which was number 13 in the country.
A major celebration is taking place in September and the renovations are part of the preparations for that.
Secretary Steve Johnson said: "We're delighted with how the lounge has turned out.
"The next bit is a revamp of the ladies and gents' toilets and we're building a new unisex disabled toilet.
"Then we will start on the function room before our big event in September."
Historic photographs of Alsager have been hung on the lounge walls and press cuttings of The Thirteen Club from years ago.
The history of the famous venue, which holds regular events and live music also hangs on the wall.
It reveals how in 1985 the Royal Ordnance factories were privatised and two years later sold to British Aerospace.
