Cyclists are gearing up for an annual bike ride from Alsager which will raise money for two local organisations.

The Alsager Harlequins Charity Reliability Ride, organised by Alsager Harlequins Cycle Club, takes place next weekend.

Three rides of 20km, 50Km and 100Km respectively will be taking place with all funds split between Alsager Food Bank and Alsager Rotary Charities 'Youth Programme'.

A spokesperson said: "All routes will start from the Wilbraham Arms, in Alsager.

"The 100Km route starting at 08.30, the 50Km route at 09.30 and the 20km route at 10.30am.

"The 100km ride heads off towards Scholar Green and gives an early 'Leg Burner' with an ascent of Mow Cop before dropping into Congleton and then heading out to Goostrey.

"Riders will then turn for home via Middlewich, Church Minshull, Nantwich, Audlem and Betley.

"The 50km ride heads out towards Nantwich, before turning towards Audlem and on to Woore, then returning to Alsager via Betley and Barthomley.

"The 20km ride is a loop through Hassall, Winterley and Oakhanger. This 'fun-ride' will leave at 10.30am and there will be marshals and a 'broom wagon' for anyone who experiences mechanical or other difficulties.

"It is ideal for anyone who can safely ride a bike on the road with the majority of the route following National Cycle Network roads in order to minimise traffic wherever possible."

The Harlequins say maps and GPX files for all rides will be published on their website - Alsager Harlequins' website - https://www.alsagerharlequinscc.co.uk/ a few days before the event which takes place next Sunday (April 23rd).

The club says printed maps will be available on the day together with QR codes linking to the GPX routes for any last-minute entrants.

The entry fee for each ride is £8 and riders must be 18 years or over unless accompanied by an adult.

Further information about the ride can be obtained from the website link: https://www.alsagerharlequinscc.co.uk/copy-of-harlequins-and-rotary-reliabi-1events can
