Burnout from today's busy world is something many experience but a Church Lawton woman is hoping to bring comfort to others through 'sound meditation'.

Meditation teacher, Beverly Raftery, turned to the energies of crystals and mediation after miscarrying a baby many years ago and is now using her experience to help others.

She has a crystal business based at home by appointment and has now expanded her empire into crystalline sound meditation.

Beverly, 57, holds pure crystalline sound and meditation classes at Hub and Health in Crewe Road and more recently she held her first session inside St Mary Magdalene's Church in Alsager.

"I was after a bigger space and when I visited St Mary's church in Alsager it just seemed perfect.

"I got a lovely feeling and knew it would be right. I held my first session on Tuesday (18 August) and everyone said how peaceful it was and how much they enjoyed it.

"Everyone's experience is different. It helps you to relax and reconnect with your mind and body. People say how much calmer they feel and how well they sleep afterwards. It is a wonderful experience."

Beverly uses a mallet to tap on the outside of the bowls to produce sounds which can be heard at various frequencies.

So popular are her sessions at Hub & Health that Beverly is holding a one-day retreat tomorrow (Saturday) from 11 am until 3 pm to support people in "reconnecting" with themselves.

And Beverly has already planned another crystalline meditation event at St Mary Magdalene's Church in Alsager on Tuesday 15 September in the evening.

At the moment, Beverly's classes, all featured on her Facebook page, Pure Crystals Crystal Shop are in the evenings at Hub & Health but she is considering running daytime classes.

"I don't offer anything to my customers which I haven't tried myself and found useful. I turned to crystals and alternative therapies to help improve my mental well-being and it really helped."

Beverly started using crystals after the sad loss of a baby years ago and was amazed by how much they helped anxiety and depression.

She said previously: "Each type of crystal offers something different. A friend gave me some rose quartz and amethyst to try and I was amazed at how much they helped. I felt calmer and more relaxed.

"I then started to explore energy healing and reiki and became a reiki master."

Beverly can be contacted directly through her Facebook page here which offers links to her pure crystalline sound and meditation events.
