Alsager Fire Station's first virtual open day was temporarily interrupted after firefighters were called to a domestic building fire.

The town's on-call firefighters arrived to Linley Grove in just over three minutes after receiving the call at 11:16am.

After arriving at the scene the fire was "thankfully" already out.

A spokesperson for Alsager Fire Station said: "The occupier had left cooking unattended and a tea towel had accidentally set alight.

"Thankfully a working smoke detector alerted the occupier and her dogs.

"Take a moment to test your alarm now."

One appliance from Alsager and one from Sandyford attended. Crews were in attendance at the scene for 30 minutes.
