A popular production written by a Church Lawton writer and producer is back on stage shortly to celebrate the 25th anniversary.

Back by popular demand, 'Strictly Eric' is at the New Vic in Newcastle-under-Lyme in celebration of David Graham Productions' much-loved character's silver anniversary.

The Eric shows have become an institution at the New Vic over the past 25 years and this year audiences will get a chance to find out what happens when Eric takes on the best ballroom dancers 'Strictly' has to offer.

First staged in 2017, it is one of two of the most popular Eric shows – along with Eric's Full Monty – to return to the New Vic this year following an audience vote.

Eric and hapless sidekick Gordon have somehow ended up organising the 1969 World Ballroom Championships at Blackpool's Tower Ballroom.

The two favourites are couples from Germany and England, and the English couple are determined to win, but more familiar with the twist than the tango, could employing Eric and Gordon be Strictly's biggest ever mistake?

The Eric productions are the brainchild of Church Lawton's David Graham who wrote a novel about Eric, 'Eight Days a Week, packed with all the fun of the loveable character, during lockdown as we revealed here .

"He's a bit like a northern version of Del Boy and Rodney," said David previously. "He's everything you wouldn't want a man to be."

Strictly Eric takes to the stage at the New Vic from Monday, July 22nd until Saturday, August 3rd. Tickets are priced from £24.00. For more information and to book call the Box Office on 01782 717962 or visit newvictheatre.org.uk.
