Calling all local hockey players - do you currently play or have you ever played for Triton Hockey Club and would you like them to celebrate an important milestone?

Next year (2025), the club, based at Alsager Sports Hub, will be celebrating its 25th anniversary and is looking for memories and photographs from former members to collate a display.

The club plays their home matches at Alsager Sports Hub and retires to Alsager Cricket Club after matches. Currently there are three men's teams and two ladies' teams who represent the club in the North West Hockey Leagues.

But the club, whose website is here , needs the help of former players to who remember the club when it was set up in 2000 from three other local hockey clubs.

Avid hockey fan, Richie Bason, is a former captain of Alsager Hockey Club, one of the three clubs which joined together to former Triton.

"It all happened in the late 1990s," said Richie who started playing hockey as Alsager Hockey Club was based at Alsager Cricket club.

"It worked well as the hockey season runs from September - April and the cricket season from April to September. One led to the other.

"The then Sandbach Hockey Club and Kidsgrove Ladies' Club amalgamated with Alsager Hockey Club to form Triton - using the 'tri' as there were three towns.

"Triton has gone from strength to strength and is a strong club," said Richie, 52, who still follows the club's hockey results but gave up playing in 2006.

"Triton played their first game in 2000. I remember the camaraderie. The merger benefitted everyone," he said.

Suzanne Colclough, Triton's chair, (pictured below) is currently compiling a programme to celebrate Triton's milestone year.

"It's an important time for us and we want as many people as possible to come forward and share their memories of the club with us.

"We're so proud of all we have achieved and want to take this forward to the next decade. There's so many memories to share."

Anyone with memories is asked to contact Suzanne at [email protected].

The club recently thanked three organisations who had made donations to the club - the former Alsager Partnership, Alsager Cricket Club and Everybody Foundation - as Alsager Nub News revealed here
