A hockey club poised to celebrate its silver anniversary has thanked three loyal supporters who have helped fund a series of projects.

Triton Hockey Club, formed in 2000 when Sandbach, Alsager and Kidsgrove Hockey Club joined forces, has been able to buy new equipment and fund courses for coaches thanks to three donation.

The club, which trains at Alsager Sports Hub and welcomes members from throughout Cheshire, Staffordshire and beyond, has received donations from the former Alsager Partnership, Alsager Cricket Club Gin Festival and Everybody Foundation.

This has enabled the club, which has around 80 youngsters signed up, to buy mini goals, small hockey sticks, colourful bibs and balls and face masks.

Next year, they will be celebrating their 25th anniversary and one of the ideas is to collect memories and photographs from former members.

The club plays their home matches at Alsager Sports Hub and retire to Alsager Cricket Club after matches. Currently there are three men's teams and two ladies' teams who represent the club in the North West Hockey Leagues.

Club Chair Suzanne Colclough said some of the youth fund would also be used to fund coaching courses.

"This way the club can ensure consistent training cover for the juniors into the future," said Suzanne. "Two coaches are upskilling on the Advanced Coach programme, two volunteers are taking the step onto the coaching pathway and there is provision for coaching workshops for other volunteers.

"We're absolutely delighted with the funding which will help the club go from strength to strength."

The juniors train at Alsager Sports Hub on Mondays and Saturdays throughout the season and all children are welcome to attend from beginners to accomplished players.

The junior section has Saturday morning training for age five - eight years and Monday evening training for age eight plus.

More details about the club can be found on their Facebook page here or by contacting [email protected].
