Calf rescued by firefighters after it falls into the canal

A calf had to be rescued after it had fallen into the Trent and Mersey canal near Alsager.

One fire engine was called to Congleton Road North at 6.53 am yesterday (Wednesday).

A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "A calf that was stuck in a canal was pulled out using lines by firefighters."
