An Alsager group set up to encourage lifelong learning has launched its own Facebook page.

Up until now, Alsager & District U3A (University of the Third Age) has only had a website.

But now the group, part of the national and international voluntary learning organisation, has joined social media.

Member Arthur Harding who set up the page said: "We've always had a website but have never been on Facebook.

"This will give the group a greater presence and mean we can post updates and other information readily."

Alsager Nub News told in June here how the group is preparing to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The branch was launched in 1998 an has nearly 1,000 members and across 59 groups. are busy preparing the special anniversary celebrations.

Anniversary celebrations will include a concert at St Mary's Church in Alsager on October 15th featuring the group's orchestra who will be playing music from the stage and screen.
