By Deborah Bowyer 29th Apr 2026
Volunteers from the Alsager branch of a group for stroke survivors have been presented with individual pin badges as part of the charity's Kings Award for Voluntary Services (KAVS) - equivalent to an MBE.
Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, Lady Redmond, presented the King's Award for Voluntary Services presented the Stroke Survivors Speech & Language Support Group with its prestigious award at Crewe Municipal Buildings.
Volunteers from the Alsager group, which meets at Alsager Social Club in Longview Avenue on Thursday mornings, were among those presented with badges.
Lord Lieutenant, Lady Redmond, gave her 'warmest congratulations' as she presented awards, saying volunteers give their time 'day in day out' to the groups, making a real impact on the survival and recovery of stroke victims.
Each of the groups were then called up to receive a commemorative enamel pin badge from the Lord Lieutenant and High Sheriff.
Founder, Liz Bedson, said: "Thank you to everyone for all your support, love and belief in my vision and dreams over the past eight years. Here's to the future of Stroke Survivors Speech & Language Support Group."
