An award-winning singer songwriter who grew up in Alsager but who now lives near Sandbach played to a packed audience in a local church.

Th pews were full at St Bertoline's Church in Barthomley on Saturday night when Rob Wheeler staged his Christmas concert.

Rob picked up Songwriter of the Year in the ARC Radio Listener awards last year and recently came back from Nashville where he was recording a new album.

Rob, who went to Alsager School and built his own recording studio at home in Haslington, comes from a generation of musicians and is a huge fan of Christmas time.

He said: "Christmas is important for me and I genuinely love it because my mum made it such a special time of year for me as a youngster."

Saturday night was full of festive cheer as Rob played a variety of his own songs plus some Christmas favourites from other musicians.
