Hearing you loud and clear – members of Alsager Community Choir are in fine tune as they gather for their weekly rehearsal.
It's well documented that singing is good for the body and soul and a group of Alsager singers are living proof.
Every Monday night, crowds queue up to join the weekly rehearsal in the church hall at the Wesley Place Methodist Church in Lawton Road for the town's big choir whose Facebook link is here .
They include 26-year-old Gina Halliwell, a PHd student and a part-time lecturer (pictured below) who just loves coming to choir practices.
"I saw it posted on Facebook and thought it would be something fun and enjoyable to do," said Gina, who is a former student of Alsager School.
"We sing all sorts of things and the musical director is brilliant.
"They are very welcoming and I've made lots of friends. I wanted to do something in an evening which was fun and a bit different."
And the welcoming environment was confirmed by another avid singer, 81-year-old Pat Sykes.
"I wanted to get out and meet people and this is great. We all have fun and it's a great social thing to get involved in," she said.
The choir was set up by Sue Thomason's son, Matthew Thomason, back in 2012. Sue and her husband Alan are both members of the choir.
Matthew is a professional pianist and lives in Cornwall but he still keeps his hand in with Alsager Community Choir.
"Matthew is involved with community choirs in Cornwall and lets us know if a particular song has done well there."
Members of Alsager Community Choir are certainly in good hands with their musical director, Dan Hollingshurst.
A distinguished musician, Dan, from Barlaston runs numerous other choirs including Endon Community Choir and two Stafford choirs.
"Community choirs are fun friendly groups. I was brought up on a diet of music through my family," said Dan.
"We don't ask people to audition. It's a fun, friendly social group of people who enjoy singing.
"We don't ask for experience and you don't have to be able to read music. The health benefits of singing in a group are well documented."
