Alsager's new Labour MP heads down to Westminster to start her busy week

Congleton constituency's new MP, Sarah Russell, starts the week in Westminster after securing a Labour victory in the General Election. 

As we revealed here Labour's Sarah Russell beat Fiona Bruce to become the next MP for the Congleton constituency which includes Alsager.

She attended yesterday's Holmes Chapel Village Fair saying on social media: "So thrilled to attend my first community event as your MP. 

 "I promised that I would be a visible, community-based MP if you elected me, and I wanted to show you straight away queries take a little longer than usual in the meantime. Thank you for your patience." 

Sarah told Nub News this morning she had been "despatched" to Westminster for a very busy induction programme.
