Alsager Swimming Club is shortlisted for a raft of sports awards

An Alsager-based swimming club is celebrating after being shortlisted for four categories for sports awards in Cheshire East.
Alsager Swimming Club, based at Alsager Leisure Centre, has been shortlisted for Club of the Year and its head coach, Phil Balcombe, for Coach of the Year in the Everybody Awards 2022.
In addition, two of its swimmers have also been shortlisted. Poppy Maskill, who recently swan in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham has been nominated for Sports Personality of the Year.

Rachael Partington has also been shortlisted for the Disabled Sports Achiever in the awards.
Phil Balcombe said: "It's great news we have been shortlisted for four awards."
Everybody Health and Leisure run 16 leisure facilities throughout Cheshire East, including Sandbach Leisure Centre.
They say they received an "amazing" number of nominations for the 2022 awards which take place at Crewe Hall in Crewe on October 7th.
Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson is hosting the awards and the keynote speech will be delivered Michael 'Eddie' Edwards aka Eddie the Eagle.
