Alsager power cut: 1,300 homes affected by Hooze Hollow substation fault
By Deborah Bowyer 7th Aug 2026
Around 1,300 people temporarily lost their electricity supply today (Friday) following a network circuit fault at the Hooze Hollow substation in Alsager.
SP Energy Networks said engineers were working to repair a network circuit fault which temporarily affected power supplies in the town.
It follows reports of an electrical pylon fire in Lawton Road as we reported here which meant the road was closed while the incident was dealt with.
A spokesperson for SP Energy Networks said: "Our engineers are currently working to repair a network circuit fault at our Hooze Hollow substation in Alsager, which temporarily affected power supplies to around 1,300 customers for a maximum of seven minutes this morning.
"We're aiming to complete the repair works as quickly as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
