Alsager named in top half of best places to live in the UK

Alsager has been named in the top half of a survey of best places to live in the UK.
Property finder company Garrington has published its 2024 marketing report for England and Wales.
The report ranks the 1,429 towns, cities and villages on measures covering five categories.
These categories are natural environment, wellbeing, heritage/culture, schools, employment and connectivity and house price quality and value.
Garrington also lists the average family home cost and average sales price change across the last 12 months in each settlement.
They claim their Best Places to Live 2024 report is an impartial, objective ranking based on publicly available data.
Where does Alsager rank in the 2024 Garrington report?
Alsager is ranked in the top half of the country's best places to live, towards the lower end of that top half.
Alsager is ranked 528th out of 1429 British places in the new research.
Of all the categories, Alsager ranks highest for its house price quality and value, category, ranking 150th-best in this category in the UK.
Alsager also scored well in the natural environment category, with 342.
How does Alsager fare against other Cheshire towns?
Wilmslow is ranked very highly at 46.
Sitting just four places behind Wilmslow is Macclesfield at 42, as the best in Cheshire.
Bollington is placed at 142, with house price quality and value ranked eighth for the whole of England and Wales.
Poynton sits in a solid position at 192, best ranked for its natural environment
Lymm sits within the top 100 at 83, with schools, employment and connectivity its strong point.
Chester ranks at 203, with heritage/culture its best performer.
Knutsford is placed at 249, faring well for its house price quality and value.
Warrington is ranked at 342, best rated for its schools, employment and connectivity.
All of the above Cheshire towns scored higher than Alsager.
And now all of the towns below, Alsager did better than.
Congleton is placed at 578, also ranked highest for its house price quality and value.
Nantwich is placed at 583 on the list, with wellbeing and house price quality and value its highest ranked statistics.
Ellesmere Port sits at 662, with schools, employment and connectivity its strong point.
Barnton is placed at 724, placing best for its wellbeing.
Winsford is ranked among the country's worst places to live, sitting at 1,363 out of 1,429.
Runcorn is also ranked low down the list, sitting at 1286 with wellbeing its worst rating.
Middlewich sits at 1,218, with only its house price quality and value faring well.
Cuddington is ranked at 1,159, with its natural environment rated poorly.
Davenham is placed at 1,174, ranked worst for its schools, employment and connectivity.
Holmes Chapel fares poorly with a rating of 1,161, ranking low for heritage/culture and schools, employment and connectivity.
Hartford is placed at 1,063, also ranking poorly for schools, employment and connectivity.
Northwich is down in 983, with its natural environment, wellbeing and house price quality and value ranked poorly.
Sandbach is ranked at 972, rated down in 1304 for schools, employment and connectivity.
Weaverham is placed at 953, with heritage/culture and schools, employment and connectivity ranking poorly.
Cheshire East's largest town of Crewe is ranked at 772 on the list.
Where does Alsager rank compared to other places?
Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme sit at 396 and 391 respectively, with Shropshire's Whitchurch ranked 1036.
In other nearby cities, Liverpool ranked 347 and Manchester 135.
Cheadle in Staffordshire ranked 910th.
Stafford placed in 644th. Stone in Staffordshire placed at number 1140.
Uttoxeter is at a lowly 1338.
The top four scoring places were New Mills in Derbyshire, Epson in Surrey, St. Albans in Hertfordshire and first place was Twyford in Berkshire.
