An Alsager man is starting a two-year prison sentence while his wife has received a nine month prison sentence suspended for 18 months following an incident at Alsager Cricket Club.

Daniel Hallam admitted a charge of grievous bodily harm and assault at Chester Crown Court while his wife Serena Hallam admitted assault and affray following the incident in March last year.

Mrs Hallam was also ordered to complete 20 days of rehabilitation activity and 200 hours of unpaid work by the court. The two were sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Friday, November 1st.

The court heard the couple and their children had gone to the cricket club in Fairview Avenue to watch England play Ukraine in the Euros.

Talking exclusively to Alsager Nub News following the court case, Alsager Cricket Club chairman, Alan Stancliffe said: "The part-time employee has been receiving the support of the club since the incident in March 2023.

"The social member who intervened has also received full support from the cricket club. We hope that the verdict now draws a line under the terrible incident and brings closure for all."
