Volunteers, councillors and other members of the Alsager community will be coming together next month for a Civic Service in the centre of the town.

Alsager Town Council chair, Councillor Michael Unett, is holding the event at Wesley Place Methodist Church in Lawton Road on Sunday, April 10th.

Cllr Unett said: "It's at the end of the civic year. I want to celebrate all the good work volunteers and others have done and also look forward to the future.

"So many events were cancelled during the pandemic and people have worked so hard to bring things together and help each other.

"The service is a way of honouring their hard work and thanking them and looking forward to all the wonderful projects planned for the future.

"There's a tremendous community spirit in Alsager. This service is a celebration of communities being able to come back together."

The service will be led by the church's Minister, Rev Rob Hilton, Superintendent of the Cheshire South Methodist Circuit.

Rev Hilton said: "I am delighted to be asked to conduct this service. It's an honour and we are busy planning the service.

"Alsager is a wonderful community and there is so much good work which goes on here. The community really does look out for each other.

"As a town, Alsager has done well throughout the pandemic. We as a church have helped as much as we can.

"When vaccinations were taking place opposite our building we threw open the door to our car park and offered parking whilst people went across the road for their jabs.

"This service is a celebration of all the work the community has done throughout Covid and looking forward. We need to be together and help each other."
