An Alsager business owner has started 2023 on a high note after announcing she is moving to new premises – in an historic heritage building.
Talented South African woman, Kirsty Sampaio, the face behind LoveKnott Creations, is taking up a unit at Middleport Pottery in Harper Street, Stoke-on-Trent.
At present, Kirsty is running her business from a large garage-type room outside her home in The Butts, Alsager.
The business is doing so well that she has decided to take move to the historic heritage building at Middleport Pottery and moves to the Stoke base on January 23rd.
"I'm so excited to be expanding the business to a shop space where people can pop in to purchase craft packs, mixed media items and also have a nosy at the workshops I offer," said Kirsty.
"I will be working in the shop daily, creating pieces, so an amazing opportunity to see what I do "up close".
Alsager Nub News told in October here https://alsager.nub.news/news/local-features/meet-the-alsager-woman-who-has-designs-on-recycling-for-art-156376Q how Kirsty makes all kinds of creatures from flamingos to owls, hares, lions and even Highland cows.
The trick of her trade is Powertex, a water-based, environmentally friendly, non-toxic, weatherproof liquid medium which is mixed with a paint colour
She uses old glass jars with thick lids and other items to make her amazing objects which are sold at craft markets all over Cheshire and Staffordshire.
"I try not to throw anything away," says Kirsty who set up her business, LoveKnott Creations just over a year ago, designing her own website.
The fabric is then soaked in the Powertex and placed around the shape – bottle, jar or even shoes - to make the LoveKnott creations.
After three weeks drying time, the products can then be used to either indoor or outdoor.
"I did art at school but I wouldn't say I could draw. I just know what I want and then work out how to do it," said Kirsty who moved to the UK five years ago with her husband.
It was her cake sculpture business alongside her logistics work in South Africa which helped form her artistic streak.
Kirsty sells her creations at local craft markets as well as having an on-line shop on Esty and doing commissions.
Alongside this, Kirsty runs workshops as well as doing videos of her amazing work so she can get pass on her skills to others.
"Everyone has a creative side and I always say anyone attending one of my workshops will not walk out with a gremlin," she said.
Alsager Nub News wishes Kirsty every success at her new Stoke base.
