A law firm is among objectors opposing plans by a new restaurant to serve alcohol and play music from 8am to 1am on weekdays and up to 2am at weekends.

Cheshire East's licensing sub-committee will consider the application next week from Bosphorus Dining on Lawton Road in Alsager.

Six objectors are opposing the application for a new premises licence for the stated times.

One, who works as a solicitor at Poole Alcock, whose offices are directly above the dining area, said: "Bosphorus Dining requests a licence to play live music from 8am to 11pm from Monday to Sunday.

"This is alongside playing recorded music and supplying alcohol from 8am to 1am Sunday to Thursday and from 8am to 2am Friday to Saturday, all of which directly impacts the working hours of our law firm, this being 9am to 5.15pm.

"We deal with a multitude of clients who are seeking advice for matters which are often deeply personal and at times distressing, therefore, it is vital that we are able to offer a safe and peaceful environment to meet with these clients to provide legal advice.

"It is simply unacceptable for Bosphorus Dining to be able to play loud music both live and recorded, alongside inviting individuals to consume alcohol during working hours when we are meeting with vulnerable clients who will be directly and negatively impacted by such disturbances."

Alsager Town Council 'strongly objects' saying the extension of hours will lead to anti-social behaviour.

Another objector said: "The location is extremely close to quiet residential housing.

"Having people leave the premises at 1am and 2am , this will be deemed as a public nuisance/public safety to the nearby residents.

"There is an outside decking area and having people sitting there until 1am/2am will disturb the nearby residents."

Another said: "We live very close to this venue. Whilst we wish the new proprietors every success in this venture, we have concerns about the times for recorded music and supply of alcohol and late-night refreshments."

On the application, Bosphorus Dining says the recorded music, which is proposed to be played indoors and outdoors, would be background music for guests.

The premises at 2 Lawton Street was previously run by Casters of Cheshire.

Casters was open from 9am to 11.30pm Monday to Thursday, until 1.30am on Friday and Saturday, and until 10.30pm on Sundays.

Recorded music, which was licensed to only be played indoors, could be played until 11pm Monday to Thursday and until midnight Friday to Saturday.

The licensing sub-committee meeting takes place at 10.30am on Monday (August 4th), at Crewe Municipal Buildings.
