Firefighter facing dangerous driving charge after woman died following Alsager crash

A man will appear in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman died following a crash in Alsager.

Police were called to the scene at the junction with Crewe Road and Close Lane at 7.22am on Friday 28 March 2025 where there had been a crash between a Lexus and a fire engine.

The driver of the car, a 59-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries. She was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the fire engine, a 57-year-old man, has now been summonsed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Friday 23 January 2026 to face the charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
