Alsager Book Emporium has launched a hunt to reunite a wedding album which mysteriously appeared amongst a load of donated books with its owner.

The wedding photographs are contained in a maroon-type wedding book which the book emporium thinks was picked up off a bookcase with a pile of other books.

Alsager Book Emporium in Hassall Road has no idea what books the album mistakenly came in with other than it was in the "last two months or so" but would desperately would like to reunite it with the family or friends

"It looks like a book so I think someone must have cleared a book shelf and not realised it was a wedding album. It's such a shame because someone must be missing it," said the Rev Malcolm Lorimer, who set up book emporium.

"We have just left it on the table in the book emporium with a note on the front asking if anyone knows who it belongs to. Someone must know who's it is?

"It must have accidentally been put in the bag with the other books. There are no names on it and we cannot identify the church so we have no idea.

"It does look like the wedding is fairly recent though at least in the last ten years. Someone must recognise the couple. It would be lovely to hand it back to whoever it belongs to."

Alsager Book Emporium is the brainchild of retired Methodist minister, Rev Malcolm Lorimer, an author himself who just loves books.

Open Fridays and Saturdays, it's a book lovers' paradise, where hundreds of books are for sale at bargain prices. There are countless titles, more than 60,000.

All of proceeds of its work go to support Englesea Brook Chapel and Museum of Primitive Methodism. Anyone who thinks they know who this belongs to can get in touch with the book emporium or email [email protected] and we will pass on your details.
