Nature Journalling: An Exploration of Your Senses

Nature Journalling: An Exploration of Your Senses @ Rode Heath Rise

Learn about journalling in nature by slowing down, stepping away from the noise of everyday life and enjoying quiet time to reflect.

Nature has a mysterious way of helping us hear ourselves more clearly. This guided nature journalling walk offers a gentle space to slow down, step away from the noise of everyday life, and reconnect with what matters most to you.

This is not nature writing in the traditional sense. There is no sketching, no botanical knowledge needed, and no pressure to produce anything. Instead, the natural world becomes a companion for personal reflection, mindful noticing, and journalling for clarity, relief, and wellbeing.

The walk draws on the nature journalling practice of John Muir Laws, whose three-part prompt, 'I notice, I wonder, it reminds me of', offers a gentle but surprisingly revealing way to slow down and pay attention.

  • What do you notice around you?
  • What is stirring within you?
  • What feelings, memories, or longings does the natural world bring to the surface?

As we walk, pause, and write, nature becomes a co-pilot in the process. The outdoors offers perspective and spaciousness. The journalling becomes the vehicle through which thoughts and feelings can rise, so they can be explored with honesty and compassion.

What you will experience

  • Guided journalling prompts rooted in your natural surroundings
  • Mindful pausing and noticing at scenic points along the route
  • Space to write, reflect, and simply be
  • Simple journalling practices to take home and return to
  • A supportive, judgement-free group environment

Who this is for?

These walks are for people who want time to breathe, think, and tune back into themselves. You do not need to be a writer or have journalled before. You simply need a willingness to slow down, notice what is present, and give yourself space to listen.
