Triton Men's 1s 2 Chester Men's 2s 1
Triton Men's 1s began life in North League Division 3 in perfect style with a win over Chester.
Men's 1sts made a winning start for their inaugural North Hockey League campaign at home to Chester on Saturday afternoon.
In the first half, Triton were dominant, playing some exhilarating hockey and regularly winning possession back in the opposition half.
Captain, Jack Newell nearly converted inside the first 10 minutes from the first penalty corner forced by the hosts, deflecting the ball just wide of the Chester goal.
Tom Chaddock broke the deadlock after the returning Kieran Puetz found his effort saved with the rebound falling to Chaddock to slot home.
Minutes later the men in orange did convert a penalty corner with Martin Gregory firing home for a 2-0 half-time advantage.
In the second half, the match was more even, with Chester finding their feet and creating chances of their own.
They pulled a goal back ten minutes into the half from a penalty corner of their own and an unfortunate deflection from the Triton defence.
Both teams had further chances, Triton's falling late on to Puetz and Etan Farrell, but they had to settle for a 2-1 win and a great start to life at this level.
But overall skipper Jack Newell was delighted with the opening day win at this new higher level for his team.
Sandbach Ladies' 1s 3 Triton Ladies' 1s 0
A new look Triton Ladies' 1s endured a tough opening period as a strong Sandbach team capitalised on its good play to enjoy a 3-0 half-time lead.
Triton found its feet much better in the second half. Player of the match Vicki Bennion put in a great performance on debut, as too did another debutant Lucy Salter.
The team could not find the goals that its improved performance deserved although Hannah Spears did go close on a couple of occasion.
Triton Ladies' 2s 0 Bowdon Ladies' 2s 2
The Ladies' 2s put in a good performance against a well-equipped opponent typified by new skipper Jenna Hulme in goal that earned the player of the match nomination.
However, Hulme could not do much about the two goals scored by Bowdon either side of half-time.
Sandra Stanley and Jackie Jones had good games in defence to help their skipper keep Bowdon at bay for large periods and the Triton forwards did have some chances to test their opponents defence on the counter attack.
Macclesfield Men's 3s 3 Triton Men's 3s 4
The Men's 3s came out on top in a seesaw game away at Macclesfield. Played on the brand new pitch at Kings School it was a an even first half with both teams working hard, but Triton making it harder for itself by giving the ball away cheaply and not sticking to the game plan.
Dan Hancock opened the scoring for Triton following a series of four sharp passes leading up to the goal and some excellent work by Andy Pilbury.
Michael Smissen scored the team's second after a goal line scramble when he was on hand to slot the ball home.
But Macclesfield took the initiative and with 8 minutes to go led 3-2. Dave Farrington found the equaliser with a lovely cricketer's reaction in front of goal when a ball from Dan Hancock was going high across the goalmouth.
Finally after a period of sustained pressure, Mark Drew entered the D from the right, drew the keeper and their defence and neatly slipped the ball square to skipper Alan Lewis who slapped the ball into the goal to seal the win.
Triton Men's 4s 2 Macclesfield Men's 4s 2
The Men's 4s secured an opening day point in a dramatic draw. The team had the lion's share of the early possession with Ben Brock giving the visitor's defence a torrid time, but Triton could not covert this possession into goals.
Macclesfield began to create chances and Triton was grateful to keeper Darren Cook's smart saves and the game remained goalless at half-time.
Macclesfield took the lead with a brilliantly struck penalty corner that left Cook with little chance.
Triton struggled to get a foothold in midfield, coupled and capitalising on some defensive errors, Macclesfield doubled its lead following a goalmouth scramble.
Cook, again, pulled out a couple more saves to deny the Macclesfield forward line. Heading into the last 10 minutes two goals down Triton conjured up a great escape.
When a speculative ball was hit into the D Lee Wilson deftly flicked home leaving the Macclesfield keeper wrong-footed.
Triton came alive and searched for the equaliser. A penalty corner was won on the stroke of full-time. The resultant shot ran loose and Harry Topping slotted it into the net, scoring his first senior goal, with the last hit of the game.
