Alsager Town have moved quickly to replace Stuart Tulloch by appointing former Stoke City full-back Brian Wilson as new first team manager.

Tulloch resigned last week due to family commitments leaving the Bullets seeking a third manager in a little over a year, but following discussions with the club, Brian Wilson was appointed over the weekend and will take the reins at Wood Park with immediate effect.

Wilson joins the Bullets from Matlock Town of the Northern Premier League Premier Division where he was player/assistant manager, and brings with him a wealth of experience from the professional and non-league game, having made more than 400 senior appearances across Stoke City, Cheltenham Town, Bristol City, Colchester United and Oldham Athletic.

Wilson said: "I would like to say a massive thank you to chairman Terry Greer and the board for giving me the opportunity to manage Alsager Town Football Club.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead and whilst we are in a difficult situation at this present time, I will be working hard behind the scenes to put things in place for when we can resume training and matches again.

"I'm looking forward to meeting and working with the players and will be doing my homework on the current squad to work out what areas will need strengthening to take the club forward.

"During my 18-year professional playing career I've worked under some successful managers and have inherited a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help me within my own managerial role."

Wilson continued: "My main ambition is to bring a professional approach to the squad and create a hard-working and successful team that will compete in the top half of the table.

"I want to bring success to this close-knit family club and one the fans will enjoy coming to watch.

"I hope everyone is keeping safe and well at this difficult time and when the time is right for football to resume, I look forward to meeting everyone."

Bullets chairman, Terry Greer said: "We are delighted to have appointed Brian. Having spoken at length with him and heard what others have had to say, we believe that we have made the right appointment of the club.

"I'm looking forward to working with him when football can resume."

The Bullets' last fixture was back on 31st October when Eccleshall were beaten 4-0 at Wood Park, while the Government's Covid-19 road map may provide some indication of when football can resume.
