The Rotary Club of Alsager's youth programme has been given a £500 boost - thanks to Staffordshire-based Titanic Brewery, owners of Bod Alsager.

The Titanic Brewery Foundation donated £500 towards the Rotary Club of Alsager Youth programs earlier this year and already youngsters are seeing a boost from the donation.

Youth programmes include Young Chef, Young Designer and Young Citizen of the year plus the Youth Speaks awards. These programs operate at a local level but also nationally.

Additional work includes the Youth Exchange Programs and Youth Leadership awards which provide internal exchange visits to promote peace and cross-cultural understanding together with intensive leadership development skills.

The Rotary Club also supports schools with specific funding requirements or funding pupils who may not otherwise not be able to undertake a specific activity.

Recently the Rotary Club completed a long term program to support a student who had been identified by Alsager School as very capable but did not have the means or support to progress to university.

A spokesperson from the Rotary Club of Alsager said: "Rotary with the support of other organisations and individuals, raised several thousand pounds to provide a pool of funds that would cover their time at university.

"This was used for such items as a laptop, course material and rental deposits. Rotary met with the student on a regular basis through several initial ups and downs and watched as they matured leavinguUniversity with a first-class honours degree and entering full time employment."
