A Rode Heath Explorer scout who is taking part in the World Scout Jamboree has been transferred to another site in South Korea.

Tiffany Starkey (known as 'TJ' – Tiffany Jade) was been selected to take part in the event and is representing Church Lawton, Rode Heath, Scholar Green and Alsager.

But UK Scouts say they have transferred young people and adult volunteers from the jamboree site at SaeManGeum to Seoul.

The country is experiencing an unprecedented heatwave and a tropical storm is forecast to hit South Korea.

A statement from UK Scouts says: "All young people and adult volunteers are in hotel accommodation in Seoul where their Jamboree experience has continued.

"The UK Embassy and the Mayor of Seoul have supported the UK team to develop programme activities so our young people could still get the most from the rest of their Jamboree experience in South Korea.

"This includes cultural events with other Scouts from around the world, visits to palaces, temples, cultural centres and tourist sites Seoul have to offer.

"Young people will travel home as originally planned from Sunday, August 13th".

The event began on August 1st and is due to end on Saturday (August 12th).

The Alsager School sixth form student, a member of the 1st Rode Heath Scout Group, had to raise £3,800 towards the trip.
