A WOMAN was rescued from a blaze at a house on Linley Road late last night.

Fire crews from Crewe, Alsager and Kidsgrove attended just before 11pm after the fire broke out in the living room of the property.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service report that all the occupants of the house had evacuated before crews arrived, but that one woman was "rescued by a member of the public".

Officers wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames and a large fan was used to disperse the smoke.

Fire officers also used a thermal imaging camera to check that the fire had not spread.

A Cheshire Fire spokesperson said: "One woman from the property is believed to have suffered smoke inhalation."

Fire fighters tackled the fire for nearly four hours into the early hours of this morning (Saturday).
