Weather warning in place with strong wind and heavy rain forecast
By Deborah Bowyer 11th Mar 2026
A yellow weather warning has been put in place for the area tomorrow (Thursday 12 March).
The Met Office is warning of strong winds of up to 55 miles per hour, plus heavy rain, spread across the north of England and parts of Scotland.
The warning comes into effect from 5am on Thursday, and will last until 8pm on the same day.
Some transport disruption is possible, the Met Office has said, and therefore advises people to plan before they travel.
"Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely", it said. "Some short term loss of power and other services is also possible."
The Met Office also said that weather warnings can change quickly and so advised checking for regular updates, which you can find on the Met Office website here.
