Families are at the heart of any community and the High Sheriff of Cheshire, Joelle Warren MBE, knows this more than anyone else.

Joelle is the founding chair of the Cheshire Community Foundation, an organisation set up to help families and one which is very much close to her heart.

In September, she has organised a fundraising walk round Chester Racecourse to raise money for families and children and she's urging as many people as possible to take part.

"Parenting can be tough, and sometimes a little help can prevent small struggles from becoming major crises.

"Your support will provide mentoring, emotional guidance, practical parenting support, and specialist help for children and teenagers — building resilience and helping families stay strong," she said.

Funds raised from the charity walk will be channelled through Cheshire Community Foundation, supporting the Thriving Families programme and other charities supporting families through some of life's challenges.

Joelle said: "Support focuses on relevant interventions, offering practical, tailored support to families facing challenges."

Born in Liverpool, Joëlle moved to Cheshire when she was seven and has lived here for most of her life, bringing up her family, building a recruitment business in the county and serving as Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire since 2010.

Chair of the Board of Trustees of NCT (National Childbirth Trust), the UK's largest charity specialising in pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood, supporting people as they become parents resonates with Joëlle's belief that everyone who becomes a parent should feel confident, connected and safe.

"It's such an important role and parents must feel secure and valued in what they are doing," she said. Joelle values parenting and families so much that during her year as High Sheriff she is focusing on supporting parents and families across Cheshire.

Joelle was awarded an MBE for services to business in 2016 and is enjoying her year as High Sheriff of Cheshire immensely.

The charity walk, which takes place on September 27th, is a pursuit which is close to Joelle's heart - as walking is how she and her husband relax away from working life.

She said: "Anyone taking part can choose to walk two, five, 13 or 26 miles, the distance myself and my Consort are walking. Every step will help make a life-changing difference."

Joëlle enjoys spending time with her sons and their families and likes to relax by hiking either in the local countryside or further afield in the Lake District or Derbyshire and is looking forward to the charity event in September.

She and her husband moved to Alsager more than 30 years ago and adore the area.

The couple joined Christ Church in Alsager, a church they are still heavily involved with, deciding to buy a house in Alsager and send their sons to the local schools.

She said previously: "It is a wonderful place to live. It's where we've brought up our children and we're very happy here."
