A Ukrainian woman who has settled in Alsager with her two children has launched a bid to raise funds to help those still living in her home country.

And she has enlisted the support of her employer, Bod Alsager, to help her aim to raise funds for the Ukraine.

Ludmila Vitsynska moved to the town earlier this year with two of her children and secured a job as a chef at Bod Alsager in Crewe Road.

And this week, she held a Ukrainian Charity Dinner featuring local dishes with money raised going to the Ukraine.

Now Bod Alsager, owned by Titanic Brewery, say the evenings may become a regular event if there is sufficient interest.

Dave Bott, Director at Titanic Brewery said: "Ludmila has been a key part of the team at bod Alsager since it opened this summer, and we are proud to be hosting this event to raise much-needed funds to support charities sending relief to Ukraine.

"Ludmila wanted to showcase some of her favourite traditional Ukrainian dishes, and we're excited to see what everyone thinks of them!

"Our bod Café Bars are all about supporting and being part of their local community, and we'd like to thank everyone for their support and interest in this event that is raising much needed funds for a very worthy cause."

Hayley Garner, manager at Bod Alsager said Ludmila has settled in well.

"She has picked up our menus very well and she's very keen. She's doing brilliantly."

Ludmila says she is keen for Alsager people to learn about her native dishes and is full of praise for the family she is living with.

"We met a wonderful couple from Alsager who have helped us to adapt to living in a new country," sage told Alsager Nub News.

"Ukrainians are traditionally farming people so the traditional menu consists of brad dishes and flour products.

"Our people are known for their hospitality, therefore in my menu I chose dishes that I often prepare for my family.

"The country's generous sun and fertile soil allow various vegetables to be grown.

"Therefore, Ukrainian dishes also use a lot of vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, carrots and sweet peppers.

"With these vegetables I prepared a stuffed pepper dish."
