Two new benches will be installed at a park in Alsager following a successful grant request.

A community group submitted a £905 grant request to Alsager Town Council to facilitate the purchase of the benches at Wayside Linley Park.

In their grant request, Friends of Wayside Linley Park, said: "The project will provide better facilities for the people of Alsager to better enjoy Wayside Linley Park and its woodland area by installing two new benches for the people to rest and enjoy the natural environment."

The community group has been set up to improve facilities at Wayside Linley Park, for the local community by raising funds for new park equipment and setting up a volunteers working group to help maintain the millennium wood area.

The benches will be supplied from a source recommended by Cheshire East Council and manufactured from recycled materials.

Total cost for both benches is £1078.88 and the residual cost will be paid for out of existing funds raised by Friends of Wayside Linley community group.

The grant request which will come out of Alsager Town Council's earmarked reserves was approved at a finance committee.

Earlier in the month, Elm trees were planted by Cheshire East at the park to help drainage on the site and bolster the borough's climate strategy.
