Alsager's town clerk, Julie Mason is hoping Cheshire East Council sees sense and doesn't impose evening and Sundays car park charges.

The results of a public Cheshire  East Council's statutory public consultation, which closed on October 9 are yet to be published, Nub News ran a story here about the consultation.

Residents were asked for their views on motorists paying to park in the evenings, and on Sundays, when they currently do not.

The council is proposing to extend charges at its car parks to 10 pm, and to charge on Sundays – the tariffs for which would be in line with the rates for the rest of the week.

But town clerk, Julie Mason said: "We're going to monitor for a year after charges start. We're just hoping these don't include evenings and Sundays.

"This will not only impact on Asda but also on Alsager Civic and nearby businesses which have a night trade."

One positive change though Julie says has been the negotiation with Cheshire East Council about spaces for Alsager and District Food Bank.
