Every December, Alsager Round Table tour the area with Santa collecting money that they use throughout the rest of the year to support the staging of local events such as the carnival and the annual Senior Citizens Variety Show.

The round table also supports local community groups such as the Alsager District Foodbank and Alsager's Dementia Friends.

They also assist local individuals who might have fallen on hard times.

But like many other charitable organisations, Alsager Round Table have had to stop a lot of their fundraising events this year due to Covid-19 and their funds are now running "very low".

A spokesperson for Alsager Round Table said: "A wave from Santa is a childhood memory that many of us have and we are very, very pleased and proud to be able to bring Santa to you this year in such difficult times and continue that tradition of making Christmas magical for the town's young children.

"Whilst we recognise that not everyone will be able to, we hope that if you can, you will support our charity work by giving a donation as we visit you."

There are three ways to donate this year:

CASH - If you wish to donate cash, one of the round table's collectors will only approach you and offer a collection tub (at arms length) if you go to the end of your path or drive and make yourself known to them.

TEXT - You can donate by text message by texting the word ARTSANTA to 70085 - Texts cost plus £2 one standard network rate message.

ONLINE - You can also visit Alsager Round Table's dedicated crowdfunding page.

Other Covid safe measures for this year:

- Alsager Round Table will not be knocking on doors - listen out for them approaching your street and come to your door.

- They will not be handing out sweets.

- Santa will not be stopping on route or leaving his sleight at any time.

- They have asked people not to congregate in crowds or to follow them.

- They have asked people not to approach the sleigh for photos.

- They asked residents to adhere to relevant Government advice.

- Alsager Round Table's collectors will be limited in numbers, using hand sanitizer regularly and wearing full PPE.

A spokesperson for Alsager Round Table concluded: "Please spread the details of this message around to those who might not see it on Facebook, particularly your elderly friends and relatives who also look forward to seeing Santa.

"Merry Christmas to you all - the fun starts at 6:30pm tomorrow (Tuesday 1st December)."
