Sainsbury's new Alsager superstore opened its doors this week much to the excitement of the local community and it's been revealed the drive-thru Starbucks on the same site won't be far behind.

An application was submitted to build a Starbucks on the former Twyford Bathrooms off Linley Lane last year but a company spokesperson contact by Nub News couldn't confirm when it would be opening.

And information released by Sainsbury's this week said "a new Starbucks store is expected to arrive onsite in late Spring".

Cheshire East's planners gave approval to the application 24/2767C here can be viewed on the planning portal on Cheshire East Council's website.

A transport statement, submitted by WSP on behalf of Thistlewood Properties, at the time of the planning application last year stated: "To complement the Sainsbury's site a Starbucks coffee shop has been proposed, with 19 associated customer car parking spaces and a drive-thru lane."

Vehicular access to the Starbucks would be taken from the Sainsbury's car park access road.

Pedestrian access to the site will be available from the dedicated pedestrian route through the Sainsbury's site, which links directly from the A5011 to the east.

A planning statement from Edgeplan and submitted with the application, stated: "Due to the siting of the proposed drive-thru within an existing retail site and with sufficient distance from residential properties maintained, the proposal would not result in adverse harm upon amenity.

"The opening times will be from 6am-11pm. This is consistent with the opening times of the Sainsbury's store."

It adds: "The neighbouring uses to the application site are a large retail store and petrol filling station.

"It is expected that the vast majority of vehicular trips to the coffee shop would consist of supermarket customers that call in as part of a shopping trip, or vehicles passing the site on Linley Lane calling in as part of a wider journey."
