Meet the team behind the Alsager veterinary practice celebrating 10 years of purr-fect care

Taking a pet to the vets can be stressful for some animal owners, but not for customers at Alsager Vets for Pets.
Walking into the Lawton Road practice near Asda you are met by reception team who, like all of those working at the practice, have a welcoming smile, putting customers at ease.
Carl May, who took over the practice 10 years ago on 5 August, 2016, has a long and varied veterinary career which has seen him working in practices in Stoke-on-Trent as well as New Zealand.
A firm advocate of the calming effect of animals, Carl's team mirror his own passion and love for animals, providing the best service for them.
Carl says it's the care, knowledge and support which his carefully crafted team provide which makes the practice stand out.
"We're locally owned and we take great pride in the service which we offer. We have a prominent location in the town and our aim is to continue offering a high level of service and care."
Head nurse, Helen Heppell, who has worked at the practice for five years, says the customers are "lovely".
"Our aim is to make them feel at ease and make the whole experience as stress-free as possible," said Helen.
Hayley Marsh is the practice's animal care assistant and has two dogs, a cat, four chickens and a turkey as pets at home.
"I've always loved animals," she said. "The animals we have brought in are lovely to work with."
Vet Amanda Roddam joined the practice three months ago and has been a vet for over 30 years, qualifying in her native Australia.
"We have a really good team who all work together. It's such a lovely place to work," she said.
Dee Bamford is a student veterinary nurse, currently studying for a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing at Reaseheath College. She said: "I've always love animals and have worked in vets since I was I7."
Head receptionist, Emma Buckley, who works Monday to Thursdays, shares the same ethos as all the staff - a love for animals and a passion for providing the highest standard of care.
"It's our job to help customers feel relaxed and take some of the stress away. We often get cards and flowers to say thank you for our work," said Emma who has two cats at home of her own.
Summer Harrison, the other member of the receptionist team, has a dog called Vinnie and jumped at the chance to join the practice.
"When I saw the job advertised I applied straight away. They're a great team and the customers are lovely. It's a really happy atmosphere here."
Practice owner, Carl, has two dogs of his own, Bodhi, a Vizsla, a Hungarian pointer-type breed and Fleur, a short-haired rescue dog.

Carl's career in the veterinary world began as a child when he did work experience in a Newcastle-under-Lyme practice.
He said previously: "I've always loved animals and loved the work experience. The vet took me under his wing and my career started then."
Qualifying as a veterinary nurse back in 1996, Carl says animals can have such a calming effect.

Carl added: "We work hard to have a good relationship with our customers. We're given a position of trust and will do our very best to deliver.
"We can't fix everything but we will certainly try and as well as our staff we have visiting specialists coming into the practice."
