A loving lurcher/whippet rescued by Alsager Animals in Need is living the good life – after being found a permanent foster home.

Poppy was so emaciated when she was rescued by Alsager Animals in Need that it was feared she might not survive the night.

But now nearly two years on, Alsager Animals in Need has revealed they have found the loving dog a foster home.

Poppy had been living in kennels but the charity, which covers Cheshire and North Staffordshire, has found her a new home.

A spokesperson said: "We had a call from a lovely couple who matched what we were looking for and what she needs.

"We did a home check and she has finally gone to her foster home. To say we are all over the moon is an understatement.

"We will be keeping in close contact with her new family for regular updates on her progress to share.

"So far, she is settling in very well. We know how much this beautiful girl has touched the hearts of so many, after coming into our care in the most horrific state and being nursed back to health."

Alsager Animals in Need has thanked everyone who has helped look after Poppy since she was rescued including Vets4Pets in Alsager.

"To all our amazing supporters for all your support, donations, and sharing of her posts to find her a home.

"Thanks to all the staff at Alsager Vets4Pets for everything they have done for dear Poppy, bringing her back to the great health she is now. "

Alsager Nub News ran various stories, including this one here appealing for a long-term foster carer to come forward.

We hope to catch up with her new foster home and share some photographs of Poppy enjoying her new-found happiness.
