An Alsager resident who celebrated her 107th birthday today (Monday) puts the secret of long life down to exercise.

Sprightly Marie walks round the garden at Twyford House Care Home where she's a resident.

The bubbly 107-year-old received a card from the King and Queen Consort as well as nearly 400 cards!

And Alsager Nub News also went to see Marie to hand deliver a card for her special day.

Children from two schools – Alsager Highfields Primary and Excalibur School - took cards for the sprightly woman.

And the home, part of the Lovett Care Group, threw a party for Marie which included a singer for Marie and other residents.

And residents also enjoyed afternoon tea with the Mayor to make Marie's big day extra special.

Manager, Jane Haines said: "Marie is an incredible lady and an inspiration to us all. She has lived life to the full and still enjoys the things she has always loved, including gardening and daily walks.

"It is an absolute privilege to have her living here at Twyford House."
