The independent, family-run roofing company has over 57 years of experience in the industry, something owners, Richard French, based in Alsager and son Haydn, who lives in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, are proud of.

Richard's father worked for Redland Roof Tiles so the links to the roofing industry go back three generations in the French family. Richard set up the business many years ago and son Haydn joined him as his right-hand man.

Richard started off life in the roofing industry as a young apprentice and has been in the trade all his working life. Son Haydn joined the family business at the age of 16 and like his dad, has worked in the industry all his life.

Roof Care (North Staffs) Ltd has its head office in Kidsgrove with a yard office in Cobridge in Stoke-on-Trent and it doesn't matter if they are working on repairing a roof or putting on a new one, the same exacting standards of service will be applied.

One project completed recently was a lead bay window, using code lead and a special scallop detail added to make it stand out, all marked out and hand cut out using just one piece of lead.

It was completed by the firm's specialist lead man and although the weather was against him, it was fitted and finished in just over a day.

Another job recently completed involved a full re roof with Marley Mendip grey tiles, new uPVC fascia and soffit replacement with full size uPVC fascia, low level roof fully replaced along with all fascia and soffit and new cladding to the gable and front face.

Nowadays, Richard French is often found working ensuring the business is up-to-date with contract and industry body membership.

He said: "There aren't many local companies with our experience and knowledge. We spend a lot of time and money ensuring we comply with all the rules and regulations and keep up-to-date with any new legislation in the industry.

"We want to provide a fully comprehensive service to all our customers, however big or small the job is. It doesn't matter whether it is a job we're on for a few days or one for several weeks we give the same level of service and care."

Haydn added: "I love the roofing industry whether we're working on a house or garage or a stately home," said Haydn."It's just in our blood."
