A talented art lover is hoping to have designs on success when she shares her passion with youngsters in Church Lawton.

Sonia Harrison, pictured below, is a teaching assistant/arts specialist at Alderley Edge School for Girls as well as running Cup and Cake Parties and Let's Get Arty.

And next month Sonia is launching a new art club in the village where she lives so she can pass on her skills.

"It's a chance for children to have a go at something different, relax and get creative," she said.

"It will allow children to have an outlet and learn new skills and do something different outside the school day.

"It's nice to be able to offer something for the local community and I'm looking forward to this."

Sonia loves watercolours and has always loved art and all things creative, including cake decoration.

The new art club starts on October 31st and Sonia will be teaching art skills, including acrylics, mixed media, water colours, oil pastels and pencil drawing.

The club is open for children btween the ages of six and 11 years old and the classes, which cost £6 a week, will run from 4 pm until 5.15 pm on Tuesdays.

But it's not just art where mother-of-three Sonia uses her creative skills and she hasn't ruled out running other classes on Thursday evenings.

Sonia is also a keen baker and cook and may also look at running classes in these subjects in the future.

Aside from school work, Sonia runs 'Cup and Cake Parties' where children bake and decorate their cakes.

And she also makes and designs celebration cakes.

"Baking is my happy place and something which I find relaxing, It helps me unwind," she said.

"Cooking in general is a an important skill. It's so important that children know how to cook."
